Summer Plans

The summer schedule is upon us: Long evenings, vacations, a different pace — perhaps a slower, or a “more relaxed” pace. This is also true at our church, where many programs are on hiatus. But it does not mean we are hibernating until the fall. With the summer comes the opportunity to do different things during the week and on Sunday morning.

Take a look under the different paragraph headers below to get a handle on what to expect through the summer: “Sundays in Summer” describes our program schedule and music; “Midweeks in Summer” lets you know which programs are still running and which are on break; and under “Special Events” you will find information about a Jeorge Holmes concert, Wednesday movie nights, Camp Sunday, Vacation Bible School, and the Church Picnic.

Sundays in Summer:

The adult breakfast Sunday School will continue, under the leadership of Chester Studkzinski, with a study of the Gospel of Mark. Worship will continue to be offered at 10:30 AM, with a staffed nursery available for children up through age 3, as usual. A fellowship hour of light refreshments will follow worship, as usual, in the fellowship hall.

Children’s Church is on hiatus until “Rally Sunday” in September (check this site for more details as summer progresses). Activity and coloring sheets will be available for children between the ages of 4 and 11.

Choir is on hiatus until October 21. We are scheduling a rotation of special music involving our own regular participants and also special guests. Our praise team “Redeemed” as a group is on semi-hiatus; we will continue to blend our congregational singing with acoustic-led praise music on second and fourth Sundays.

Preaching Schedule:

June 3, Jonathan Wilson; June 10, Braden Britton; June 17, Daryl Rahfeldt, June 24th -July 1st, Jonathan Wilson.  On July 8 there is a special Camp Sunday where we will join Covenant Harbor in worship (see above).  Daryl Rahfeldt will lead a service here for those who are unable to make the trip.

Please return to this site for more details concerning August through Labor Day.

Inquirer’s Class

There will be an Inquirer’s Class for those interested in learning more about the Evangelical Covenant Church, on July Sundays after fellowship hour, July 15, 22, 29, and August 5.

The Ladies’ Tuesday afternoon Bible study will continue to meet at 1:30 on a weekly basis. Please call the church ahead of time in case of a cancellation.

Dorcas Lunch Group will meet the first Thursday afternoon of every month through the summer, 1 PM at Big Skillet.

MOPS (mothers of pre-schoolers, a trade-marked program for mothers of young children, see tab on this site for details) will arrange play-dates every first and third Tuesday of the summer months, until regular programming resumes in the fall.
